Roberts switched views to uphold health care law

July 2, 2012 @

Some of the conservatives, such as Justice Clarence Thomas, deliberately avoid news articles on the court when issues are pending (and avoid some publications altogether, such as The New York Times). They’ve explained that they don’t want to be influenced by outside opinion or feel pressure from outlets that are perceived as liberal.

But Roberts pays attention to media coverage. As chief justice, he is keenly aware of his leadership role on the court, and he also is sensitive to how the court is perceived by the public.

There were countless news articles in May warning of damage to the court – and to Roberts’ reputation – if the court were to strike down the mandate. Leading politicians, including the president himself, had expressed confidence the mandate would be upheld.

Some even suggested that if Roberts struck down the mandate, it would prove he had been deceitful during his confirmation hearings, when he explained a philosophy of judicial restraint.

It was around this time that it also became clear to the conservative justices that Roberts was, as one put it, “wobbly,” the sources said.

Justice Roberts was against it at first, so why did he change his mind?

Obama now knows he can control the Supreme court , Thanks to Roberts , the Supreme Court was one of the last hopes for the American Citizens to hope they would take steps to streighten all of the foul ups that Obamacare and Obama himself has caused our country , Roberts has succeded in turning the court into just another laughing stock , The clock bringing us closer to an all out revolution , I guess we will find out soon will the millitary follow thie Oath to preserve and Protect the Constution and fight with us or will they follow this illeagle non citizen that has somehow snuck into the White House and looks like he is going to bwe harder then a cockroach to get rid of..

I am extremely disappointed in Roberts. When I served on jury duty, we were not supposed to read the news or watch TV so that our decisions would not be affected by outside sources. It is highly unprofessional for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to have his ear to the ground regarding outside opinions before he makes his decision. He will go down in history as a weak justice, a coward. He should be impeached, but the current Senate leadership would not do that. He has proven himself unworthy of the trust he has been given. I pray we can free ourselves from Obamacare by other means.

is this true and if so what do you and congress intend to do about it? You may call it collusion but it really was intimidation. The day before the decision was announced, one of Obama’s sniches broke a cardinal SCOTUS rule and told the outcome of the vote. 5/4 aganist OBAMA CARE. Obama called C/J Roberts and told him what he would do to the SCOTUS if he didn’t change his vote. The rest is history. WE ALL NEED TO WRITE OUR CONGRESSMAN AND DENAMD AN INVERTOGATION INTO THIS http://www.conservativeusa.org/mega-cong.htm
